xAPI, also known as Tin Can API and Experience API, was developed by Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative as a successor to SCORM certification to advance the usability of data relating to learners’ experiences across platforms and applications. This process of standardization allows for the creation of Learning Record Stores (LRS), a standalone service.
An LRS is dedicated database that can capture, report, and share user records in a way that makes them compatible for use with different systems. TOPYX® assists organizations who use xAPI and report directly back to TOPYX and not the LRS. We also assist companies who use xAPI in TOPYX and send the data to an external LRS not associated with TOPYX.
Not every LMS offers these flexible solutions.
