Manager, Client Services

Position specification:

We strive to provide outstanding service and support to our clients’ learning and development needs.  This position will support a number of clients throughout its life cycle with TOPYX.  This includes, but not limited to TOPYX’s initial set up, training, go live, ongoing support, as well as other professional services that may be offered to our client. Moreover, ongoing dialog with business development and product development is critical to ensure timely reflection of future enhancements that reflect the evolving needs of our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Handling initial client implementations of TOPYX

  • Delivering product training in a virtual setting to end users

  • Providing post-training and support

  • Assisting clients with first level support of products and services via telephone, Skype and email

  • Interacting with the business development team, as needed, on pre-sales

  • Consulting with clients to deliver solutions, including workflow setup

  • Knowledgeable of course authoring tools and SCOs

  • Providing timely preparing reports as may be requested by management, regarding client activities.

Required skills:

  • Undergraduate in liberal arts or other related fields

  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is a must

  • Knowledgeable of eLearning course authoring tools and SCOs are a must

  • Three to four years (or more) of training experience in a technical environment, especially Web based software applications experience with human capital management software, especially learning management systems, is desirable

  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal – are critical, both internally and externally and in a virtual environment. All client support is via email and chat, virtual meetings, telephone and email.

  • Attention to detail to ensure all projects and tasks are clearly communicated and documented

  • Ability to multitask and provide very timely support to all clients

  • Extraordinary problem solving/troubleshooting skills to resolve issues of both the technical and training variety – logically and quickly

  • Strong capacity and desire to learn new technologies

A friendly, positive outlook every day is critical. Poise, sophistication, outstanding attendance and a strong work ethic are required. Sometimes, supporting our clients may come after hours.  Or an emergency develops that requires service over the weekend.  We value our support to our clients and the right person for this position will as well.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter, with plenty of initiative, always looking for ways to improve TOPYX and supporting our clients.  While most of the work for this position is conducted independently and working alone for sustained periods, but you must be a team oriented individual and embraces effective communication to all teammates and comfortable working in a virtual environment.

A passion for new technological advancements is helpful to the role as is a desire for our Company to be winners in a competitive marketplace. You must enjoy multitasking throughout the day and be adaptable to lots of change. As TOPYX rapidly develops, an ability to track changes is a key to the work required.

The position will report to and take direction from our Senior Manager, Client Services.

Quality Assurance Engineer

The position below is located in our software development offices in Ottawa, Ontario. Position specification:

As a Quality Assurance Analyst you will assist with the test plan implementation, test case development, and test execution. You will also work as part of a larger team of client service managers to assist with data analysis, and problem resolution. In addition you will assist with weekly release testing and deployment and other duties including:

  • Accurately follow test cases and improve based upon requirements specifications

  • Perform functional and regression testing and validate test results

  • Ensure test results are accurate and clearly communicated to project team

  • Provide Manager with status reports on all testing performance

  • Learn the data structure of the product

  • Identify the client problems and come up with a solution using data analysis skills and creative problem-solving strategies

  • Manage and execute weekly release

  • Create test scripts utilizing automated test tools

Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Detail oriented

  • Proven experience in creating and or following test cases

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Quality Assurance concepts

  • Extensive knowledge of various levels of software testing skills including unit, system, functional, integration, stress and performance

  • Strong data analysis and problem solving skills

  • Work well with other team members as well as independently

  • Excellent understanding of Windows platforms, and Mobile devices

  • Excellent experience working with SQL database scripts, SQL queries, and XML

Nice to have:

  • Strong customer service mentality

  • Have a real passion for learning, as proven by previous internships, work experience, projects, or publications

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and/or Google Suite programs

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies an asset

  • Experience in working with test automation frameworks

Working directly for our Vice President, Business and Product Development, alongside our Director, Software Development in Ottawa, our Director, Technical Services in Boston and as well as all our software development engineers. This positions also works closely with client service managers, quality assurance professionals and clients to develop TOPYX®, our innovative social learning management system (LMS) system.

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have 8-10 years of strong work experience

  • Expert .NET skills: ASP.NET, VB.NET, MVC, Web Service

  • Great understanding in relational database technology; strong experience with SQL Server 2016 database design

  • Stored Procedure design and View design

  • Experience with Web application troubleshooting and problem resolution, engaging technical peers and customers as needed

  • Proficient in HTML, XML, Java/ JavaScripts, CSS, and IIS

  • English as the first language

  • Ability to problem solve with little guidance and able to learn unfamiliar technologies and concepts quickly

  • Experience in the understanding of end user experience, especially in the eLearning space and the identification and integration of Web 2.0 technologies and mashups.

  • Knowledge of eLearning (Moodle®, SCORM®) applications, protocols and mobile applications are a huge plus

  • Team management experience and a strong team player

  • Experience with PHP and MySQL would be great assets

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Developing solutions including SOWs, use cases, test cases for new features according to specifications and making modifications to existing modules

  • Develop unit test cases/criteria to verify all functionality adheres to specifications

  • Identify the impact of any modifications to the code base to maintain system stability

  • Participate in the deployment of new releases

  • Assist customer service with troubleshooting potential defects

  • Track down problems in applications until a solution and resolution is found

  • Document systems and fixes that fall into the maintenance category

  • Follow rigorous standards for code quality and maintainability

  • Work extensively with other members of our development team, using your analytical and problem-solving abilities to create better solutions

In addition, candidates should possess:

  • Willingness to learn and teach

  • High levels of initiative and motivation

  • Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodology

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and at least five years’ experience in all phases of the web development life cycle

Effectively improve our dashboards and reporting in TOPYX®, work with existing reports and develop new reports using the Logi XML BI tool, which is a Web-based architecture. Ultimately, working with our Client Service Managers to develop industry leading insights and data visualizations that will set TOPYX® apart from the competition.

Required skills include:

  • Bachelors degree in computer Science or related fields

  • Possess a firm understanding of MS SQL

  • Prior utilization of and development in business intelligence (BI) tools, such as Logi XML or other reporting tools such as Crystal reports

  • General knowledge in Web applications – .Net, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX

  • Analytical and process skills along with tracking and reporting

  • Understanding key business metrics

  • Efficiently and rapidly accessing presenting massive amounts of data

  • Testing, validating BI methodologies

  • Attention to detail to ensure all projects and tasks are clearly communicated and documented

  • Ability to multitask
